Mother Wound

Patriarchal cultures have encouraged an oppressive environment for women and mothers, holding women to unreasonable standards such as caretaking to her own detriment, upholding impossible cultural standards of what makes a "perfect" wife/family/mother, and relinquishing her own needs or ambitions to care for others. Healing the Mother Wound involves an integrative mix of counseling approaches such as grief work, somatic experiencing, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness to supportively shift internal belief systems and heal from the developmental trauma brought on by this cultural dynamic.
