Depression & Burnout
better is possible
Whether you’re facing exhaustion, sadness or something in between, understanding your experience with burnout of depression is a first step toward finding relief.
You’re not alone if you’re feeling this way. With the right support, it’s possible to reconnect with yourself, regain energy and start feeling like you again.
Exhausted, overwhelmed, empty, hopeless, withdrawn, lacking joy and motivation. We’re talking about burnout and depression.
Depression and burnout can feel oddly similar—like you’re running on empty, disconnected, and overwhelmed by even the simplest tasks. Whether it’s deep sadness or stress from giving too much for too long, both can dim your spark. You’re not alone, and with the right support, you can find your way back to clarity, energy, and a sense of self that feels like home.
This is Burnout
How People Experience Burnout:
Burnout feels like you’ve lost your spark. You feel numb and disconnected. Before this, you knew yourself as high productivity, high energy! But now, you’ve crashed and find yourself withdrawing and avoiding the things you once enjoyed. It's not just about being tired – it’s feeling emotionally numb and disconnected. It can feel like you're running on autopilot, just going through the motions.
How We Work with Burnout
We can help you identify the root causes of your burnout, whether it’s work stress, personal life demands, or a combination of both. Through counseling, you’ll learn healthy coping mechanisms to reduce stress, boundaries to protect your time and energy, and how to reconnect with what brings you joy and purpose.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
CBT helps individuals identify negative thought patterns and core beliefs that contribute to overwhelm and burnout. It works to reframe perfectionism, excessive guilt, and helpless feelings. By developing more balanced perspectives, individuals can reduce the impact of stress and engage healthy coping strategies to maintain well-being.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness-based therapy teaches individuals to focus on the present moment in order to manage overwhelming thoughts and feelings. By increasing awareness of physical and emotional states, and by learning and practicing self compassion in place of self-criticism, individuals can regain mental clarity and emotional resilience.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
ACT focuses on helping individuals accept and tolerate difficult emotions and circumstances rather than avoiding or suppressing them. It encourages mindfulness and self-compassion, while promoting commitment to value-aligned choices in order to achieve personal goals and well-being.
This is Depression
How People Experience Depression:
Depression can often make you feel isolated. You may feel like no one truly understands what you’re going through. You can feel stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts and there’s no way out. You might feel broken. But, depression doesn’t define who you are; it’s something you can work through.
How We Work with Depression
We start with curiosity, not judgment—meeting you where you are, especially when depression makes everything feel heavier. Our work focuses on gently rebuilding motivation, hope, and connection by exploring the patterns and pressures that have been weighing you down. Whether you're a teen or adult, we move at your pace, creating space for relief, reflection, and a renewed sense of self.
Somatic Experiencing
SE helps individuals become more aware of the physical sensations tied to emotional pain, allowing them to release trapped tension and trauma. By processing and resolving these bodily sensations, clients can reduce the emotional and physical impact of depression. This approach helps to restore balance in the nervous system.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
DBT focuses on teaching individuals skills to manage intense emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, and tolerate distress. It combines mindfulness, emotional regulation, and acceptance strategies to help individuals cope with the overwhelming feelings of depression.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
CBT helps individuals identify and challenge negative thought patterns that contribute to depression, such as self-criticism and hopelessness. It teaches practical strategies to replace these distorted thoughts with healthier, more realistic ones.

Trauma and Depression
Traumatic experience can often contribute to depressive symptoms. Trauma-focused therapy helps individuals process traumatic events in a safe space, explore and identify triggers, and reframe the overwhelming experience in order to resolve the strong-hold of trauma on the body and mind.
Our therapists are “Neurodiverse Informed”, which is to say that we all have training and skills to work with a range of folks on the neurodiverse spectrum from ADD/ADHD, gifted, and high functioning autism. We fully celebrate the Neuro-Spicey and the Bright and Quirky!
